School Curriculum
Colaiste Muire follows the national curriculum set out by the Department of Education and Skills
Courses
Junior Certificate Year 1 or 2
13 and 14 year old students will be offered a place in Junior Cert Year 1 or 2. Junior Cert students take eight to ten subjects which are obligatory. They are offered at 2 levels (higher or ordinary).
Transition Year (Fourth Year)
Transition year is offered to 15 to 17 year olds. Transition offers a wide variety of subjects also at two levels. It also offers a wide range of sports, activities, project work, outdoor pursuits etc. It offers an excellent year to international students, providing valuable opportunities for personal development while gaining confidence in the English language, without the pressure of preparing for a state exam.
Leaving Certificate Year 1 (Fifth Year)
Fifth year is offered to 16 to 18 year old students. Students study 7 subjects at higher or ordinary level. English and mathematics are obligatory. Subject Options will be sorted on the first day of school.
